A highly accomplished actor, poet, photographer and painter, Viggo Mortensen is a true Renaissance Man. His movie-acting career has been marked by a steady string of diverse performances since his screen debut as a young Amish farmer in Witness. Critics have continually recognized his work in close to 40 films, including A History of Violence, The Lord of the Rings, A Walk on the Moon, Portrait of a Lady, La Pistola de Mi Hermano, Carlito's Way, The Indian Runner, and The Reflecting Skin. For his role in Eastern Promises, Mortensen received Academy Award, Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA nominations for Best Performance by a Leading Actor. As part of Mortensen’s tribute, CineVegas will play Alatriste, in which he plays Spanish soldier-turned-mercenary Captain Alatriste. He has shown his photographic work in galleries around the world, and his books of photography and writing are available from Perceval Press, the independent publishing house he founded. This fall, Mortsensen stars in The Road and he recently completed production on two films: Appaloosa and Good.
